Jammed thumb?? (10 point offer for best one!)?

Hey everybody! my dad just yesterday got a jammed thumb. i want to know whats the easiest way to heal it. he washes his hands a lot because he's working so any creams wont work too good but he tried it. he is also a limousine driver so he cant wear a sprint. i really want to help him get rid of it because it pains me to see it. its only a little bit swollen. also how long will it take to heal with the treatment any of you give me? anything that doesnt take much time because hes a busy man. thanks!! :D
