Why is my chick egg slimy.?

So we have had this fertile chicken egg and we have kept it warm and we could feel it tap while in the egg every now and again, but it hasn't hatched yet and its been a little over 3 weeks already and still hasn't hatched and now it has slimy stuff on it, did it die or whats going on here? Please help, Thanks
