Do I have Strep Throat?!?

Shayna, you need to revise your knowledge and actions when you get a sore throat to protect your body from possible permanent or very serious effects. Although over 95% of sore throats are caused by a virus and will luckily go away in 2 weeks, sometimes the infection could be caused by a form of dangerous hemolytic Strep bacteria, which if not treated within the first 10 days with an appropriate prescription only antibiotic can lead to rheumatic fever and permanent heart and/or kidney damage. The wisest action with a sore throat is to visit a health clinic or doctor to get an immediate, while-you-wait Rapid Strep Test performed, and, if positive, then to start on prescription antibiotic treatment. Don't take unnecessary risks.
